Load shedding confirmed for 6 hours
Stage one to be implemented from 4pm and stage two from 5pm — Eskom.
Eskom in a statement confirmed there will be load shedding on Tuesday (19 May).
Stage one load shedding will be implemented from 4pm to 5pm and stage two from 5pm to 10pm. The power giant added the power system is very constrained for the rest of the week.
Eskom urges the public to stand together over the next few months and use electricity sparingly by switching off non-essential electrical appliances.
“Homeowners and businesses can do so with just four steps: first, switching off geysers and pool pumps; second, switching off non-essential lights; third, efficient use of air-conditioners by keeping the room temperature at 23 degrees Celsius; and finally, responding to the alerts on TV each evening.”
Commercial customers such as malls, and office blocks can make a positive impact on the grid by switching off non-essential lights and office equipment after hours.
