14 from R’fontein complete Comrades

Randfontein athletes hold town's name up high at the 2015 Comrades.

South Africa can rejoice over this year’s Comrades as both the men and woman’s title taken by South African athletes.

Gift Kelehe, the men’s winner, completed the race in five hours, 36 minutes and 38 seconds. Caroline Wostmann, the woman’s winner came in with a time of six hours, 12 minutes and 22 seconds.

14 of Randfontein’s athletes proudly completed the race. Theunis Adlams’s came in with a time of eight hours, 12 minutes and 29 seconds. He had the best time of all 14 Randfontein athletes.

Jan Meyer, one of the Randfontein athletes, said that the heat definitely impacted on their performance but he enjoyed running his 20th Comrades.

Beulah Botha told the Herald that the last 20 km felt like it was never going to end.

Randfontein can surely be proud of their athletes holding the town’s name high.
