Mysterious ‘load shedding’ a municipal fault

Power restored to affected areas.

The more than five hour power outage in Randfontein has been identified as a municipal fault in the Eikepark area where a resistor malfunctioned.

The electricity is said to have been restored to the affected areas.

According to the Eskom load shedding schedule, there has been scheduled load shedding from 2pm to 6pm in Randfontein as well as from 6pm to 10.30pm should stage 2 continue this evening.

Affected areas include:

*2A is Mohlakeng, Aureus 1, Part of Culemborgpark, Oasis Monor, Nola, Part of Randfontein Central.

*6A is Robinpark, Robinson Hospital, Lenmend Hospital, Park of Greenhills, Part of Homelake, Bongweni Village, AAzaadville, Randfontein Golf Club, Randfontein Central from Hectorton to 6th Street.

  •  6B is Westergloor, Toekomsrus, Finsbury, Kocksoord, Peace Haven, Ten Acres, Middelvlei, Pelzvale, Randfontein South, Aureus 3.
  •  1A is Randgate, Randpoort, Eikepark, Helikonpark, Culemborgpark, Part of Homelake, Part of Greenhills, Wheatlands, Loumarina, Bootha A/Hooster Plotte, Elandsvlei, Swewrage Farm.
  • 2A is Mohlakeng, Aureus 1, Part of Culemborgpark, Oasis Monor, Nola, Part of Randfontein Central.

1A and 6B will be off from 2pm to 6:30pm and 2A will be off from 6pm to 10:30pm.
