Stand up for the two time hockey champs

'This was no easy task as there were quite a few obstacles to overcome this year'

The Randfontein Hockey Club (RHC) have managed to end the season as 2015 league champions yet again.

This was no easy task as there were quite a few obstacles to overcome this year. Facilities for practice, injuries, near freezing matches and training sessions. Not even the winter rains could stop this team from staying determined yet humble and hungry for victory and promotion to a higher league,” RHC captain Pieter Liebenberg said.

“Each and every game the players played with heart and gave it their all. The team spirit among the players grew with every game as did their confidence and maturity. The skill and style the team played with this season was of the highest standard. It required discipline for the level of hockey they were playing,” he said.

The team suffered absolutely no loss during their season and has a total of eight wins, four draws and no losses.

Liebenberg said there are so many people the team would like to thank for the season.

Without leaving out any names I want to thank each and every one that was part of RHC this year. Without your support it would not have been possible.”

The club is also embarking on a new chapter which includes female hockey players in Randfontein.

The hockey women are to resume training for the 2016 summer league. Training will take place at Hoërskool Riebeeckrand every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm. The first practice will take place on Tuesday 20 October.

The 2016 winter league will resume mid-February 2016.
