W’aria Mayor goes traditional
Tundzi is of the view one should celebrate one's culture every day.
The Westonaria Local Municipality did their share for Heritage Month. They believe one’s culture should be celebrated for more than a month.
The celebration was held in the Westonaria Banquet Hall recently where officials from the municipality as well as members of the public dressed up in their respective traditional attire.
Nonkoliso Tundzi, Westonaria Executive Mayor had a blanket wrapped around her entire body, black dots on her face, a headband and bangles made from beads.
For entertainment, young people and the more mature took to the stage to perform various traditional acts. One of the groups that performed consisted of seven young men who sang traditional songs a cappella. They soon had the audience singing along.
