Mario’s hip-hop dancers on fire in Italy

Number of dance crews from the famous Dance Academy on the West Rand go big in the city of Rimini.

The Mario Gomes Hip-Hop Dance Academy recently took part in the Hip-Hop World Championships in Rimini, Italy and performed extremely well.

Five Hip-Hop crews competed in this competition namely the Precision crew, the Little Precision crew, the Kahos crew, Hush crew and the Legion crew.

The Precision crew which consists of seven dancers came second and received silver medals. The Little Precision crew also consisting of seven dancers achieved the same feat while the Kahos crew, which is the largest crew consisting of 24 kids placed fifth. The Hush crew managed to finish in 10th place and the Legion crew 17th in the world.

During the solo’s, dancers achieved the following:

• Mikayla Basson – third place

• Tokollo Ndebele – third place

• Warrick Naude – fifth place

• Delrin Davids – sixth place

• Sharne Botha – seventh place

Many dancers proudly come from Randfontein and their professional coach, Mario Gomes himself received SA colours in Hip-Hop. He also is the owner of the academy in the West Rand consisting of a massive 285 dancers.

The Precision crew, who came under the top 20 acts on the famous talent show, SA’s Got Talent, all except one, previously received bursaries from Mario Gomes after they auditioned and got chosen by Gomes. The Precision crew dancers are Vuyo Mbonya; Martin Mashaba; Chris Machel; Khaya Dhla Dhla; Terrence Nkhawtshirema, Daniel Lenka and Delrin Davids.

Gomes will once again this year, be holding auditions and dancers that gets chosen will receive a dancing bursary from the academy. Auditions are from Wednesday 2 to Friday 4 December 2015.
