Help naming our new municipality
Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the naming process.
Those who keep quiet will not be heard.
This was the message from MMC Brenda Mahuma, speaker for Randfontein Local Municipality at the IEC Hall on Tuesday (17 November). It was one of six meetings held in the Randfontein area to name the new municipality in 2016.
Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the naming process of their new municipality by submitting proposals until Monday 23 November.
Forms are available on the municipality websites www.randfontein.gov.za and www.westonaria.gov.za. Participants also can collect the forms at the municipal buildings and the offices of the speakers of both municipalities.
The new municipality will be formed by merging Randfontein Local Municipality and Westonaria Local Municipality in terms of Section 12 of the Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 117 of 1998.
The following meetings will be held as indicated below and will allow members of the public to submit their proposals through designated tables in the meetings.
Civil groups and formations areas are encouraged to participate in the process to reposition the municipality for the better and unite communities.
The remainder of the meetings will take place as follows:
