Sleeping resident surprised by armed burglars

Police: The suspects tied the victim up and demanded money.

A group of armed burglars surprised a sleeping resident during a house robbery in Greenhills recently.

The incident occurred at around 2am one Tuesday in December.

It is alleged the complainant went to bed at around 11pm ensuring that all windows and doors are completely secured. At about 2am he was awoken by three suspects – all of them armed.

“One wielded a firearm, a second had a knife and the third was in possession of a screwdriver,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

The victim then was allegedly assaulted by the suspect carrying a screwdriver. The victim sustained injuries to his head. The suspects tied the victim up and demanded money. They allegedly searched his room and took his property, namely electrical equipment including a box of microphones and left. The victim was later found by a family member.
