Police in the West Rand Cluster made a total of 125 arrests during the first weekend of December.
Warrant Officer Raymond Sebonyane, Westonaria Police spokesperson, said the arrests were made for crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, business robberies, malicious damage to property to housebreaking and theft, rape, robbery with aggravating circumstances, assaults, fraud, shoplifting and thefts.
“Action was also taken regarding crimes such as possession of drugs and marijuana, driving while under the influence of alcohol, possession of stolen property, drinking in public, selling liquor without a licence and undocumented persons,” Sebonyane said.

All arrested suspects will soon appear in different courts in the cluster.
Major General Fred Kekana, the West Rand Cluster commander, said that the successes were achieved mostly due to combined safety initiative operations in the areas.
“Members and other law enforcement agencies flooded the streets in order to create safer areas for our communities,” he said.
