Lights belonging to police found in drivers backseat

Randfontein Police were shocked to find lights belonging to them in the backseat of a motorists vehicle during a roadblock on the R28 this past week.

Randfontein Police have arrested two men for being in possession of police lights on Wednesday, 5 December.

Constable Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said the arrest was made on the R28 during a roadblock.

Police said firstly when the suspect’s vehicle was pulled over, the driver could not produce his driver’s license.

“The suspect’s vehicle was searched and a blue light was found on the back seat of his vehicle. It was checked for serial numbers, and was found that that it belonged belonging to the police,” Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein police spokesperson said.

Hendricks added it was later discovered the light was stolen from the police by the suspect’s friend who was also arrested.

“Both suspects aged between 20 and 31 years will appear before Randfontein Magistrate Court soon,” Hendricks added.
