The Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for two armed suspects who robbed two people in Second Street, Zuurbekom on Tuesday, 11 December.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said that at about 8pm that day, two friends (gender unknown to the Herald) were walking along the above-mentioned street when they were accosted by two men armed with firearms.

“They allegedly demanded money from the victims. They insisted on searching the victims and took both their phones, and a laptop. The matter was reported to the police and an investigation is continuing. The suspects are still unknown at this stage.
“We are appealing to the community to assist with information that could lead to an arrest. Anyone with information can contact the Bekkersdal Police on 011 755 8160/ 8040, or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
“We are also making an appeal to the public to avoid walking along the streets at night as these perpetrators are still at large. We also request your assistance in identifying these criminals as they are within our communities.”

Colonel Tinus Swart, the Bekkersdal Police station commander again urged the public not to try to apprehend the suspects as they are deemed to be armed and dangerous.
