Family seeks justice for jogger killed in hit-and-run on R28

After going out for a run, 47-year-old Kebonemotse Segeri did not come home.
The horrific reality of what happened to him has left this family searching for answers. Kebonemotse’s sister, Palesa Ndarala told the News that her brother stayed in a hostel close to the R28 and in the evenings he would run for health reasons. He usually ran to Randfontein via the R28 and then back the same way.
On Saturday, January 22, Segeri went out for his regular run at about 17:30, but when he did not return his family became worried.
We went out to look for him but it was already very dark and we could not find him,” Ndarala told the News.
They continued searching for Segeri the next morning, and found his body on the side of the road.
He had broken ribs and a broken leg, but they are waiting for the post mortem to find out how he died.
Ndarala said it did, however, look like he was hit by a car and that his body was dragged deeper into the bushes. She said hypothermia could have played a part in his death.
They are appealing to anyone who used the R28 on Saturday night January 22 and had seen anything to please phone them with any information. She said they just want to find out what happened to her brother and get justice for him.
