Two residents shot during Middelvlei robbery attempt

One robber was arrested during a robbery attempt at a residence in Middelvlei on November 30.

Mac van Zyl, the operations manager for Mapogo A Mathamaga, explained that they received a distress call at 22:05 from a resident.

Upon the arrival of various security companies and other first responders, it was established that an unknown number of robbers had entered the residence by force. A shootout ensued, injuring two residents – one in the chest and another in the foot.

Both residents were transported to the hospital.

Van Zyl added that the police and emergency services remained on the scene until the early hours of December 1.
