Gang crackdown: Police arrest three linked to murders
Three suspected gang members were recently arrested by the Anti-Gang Unit. Police have confirmed that they are currently investigating the suspects in connection with two separate murder cases.
The Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) recently arrested three men in Toekomsrus who are believed to be gang members. They face murder charges, among other offences.
Provincial police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the suspects are aged between 21 and 28.
They were arrested on July 3 in connection with two murder cases that were opened at the Mohlakeng Police.

“The suspects were also in possession of a revolver with a filed-off serial number, live ammunition rounds and empty cartridge cases,” Sibeko stated.
The suspects will appear in the Randfontein Magistrate’s Court soon, facing the two counts of murder and one count of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Commander of the Gauteng AGU, Brigadier Albert Maphoto, also confirmed the cases and verified that the suspects were in possession of a revolver with live ammunition rounds.
Gun violence continues to trouble the Toekomsrus community. In April, the Randfontein Herald reported on a protest march by residents following the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy. Shockingly, another drive-by shooting occurred just a day later.
