Two criminals nabbed after R’fontein house robbery, one still at large

Two out of three suspects allegedly involved in a string of crimes on the West Rand were arrested in Kagiso following their latest suspected crime, a house robbery in Randfontein.

Two suspects believed to be linked to serious crimes in the West Rand area have been arrested in Kagiso, while efforts are underway to track down a third suspect.

Director and board member of Tactical Angels, Liam Vermaak, explained that during the early morning hours of July 11, the organisation was called to assist in a tracing operation by the West Rand Trio Task Team.

He said two of the three suspects were arrested during the operation, but the third suspect fled to another province.

“Our teams are finalising an operational plan to bring him back to face justice as the suspects are believed to be involved in multiple house robberies, hijackings and street robberies,” explained Vermaak.

He confirmed that the suspects are positively linked to a house robbery case in Randfontein as recent as early July.

The operation started at 03:00 and was executed safely, Vermaak said, thanks to the dedication of the West Rand Trio Task Team investigation officers and their Tactical Angels members on the ground.

“We remain committed to protecting our communities and standing shoulder to shoulder with the police in the fight against violent crimes.”
