Stabbed and robbed: Wanted vehicle haunts Randfontein streets

Warning to Randfontein residents: A white VW Polo linked to violent robberies is out and about. Stay alert and report suspicious activity immediately.

Mapogo A Mathamaga has issued a severe safety warning to Randfontein residents regarding a white Volkswagen Polo involved in various robberies.

This is according to operational manager Mac van Zyl, who stated yesterday (August 6) that two women were approached by this vehicle while walking down Kingfisher Street in Helikonpark.

He further explained that two suspects jumped out of the vehicle, robbed the women of their cellphones and stabbed one of the women without provocation. After the suspects fled the scene, a motorist contacted the security company through a panic button to assist the women.

Van Zyl noted the police were contacted and the stabbed victim was taken to the hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.

The same morning, Mapogo responded to a robbery on Arend Avenue, where the vehicle matched the description of the one that had driven on Kingfisher Street. Van Zyl emphasised the vehicle has also been linked to other incidents in Greenhills and Culemborgpark.

Van Zyl urged residents to remain alert and stay vigilant. He added that residents must report suspicious vehicles and activities immediately and avoid walking alone, specifically in quiet areas.
