Toekies school targeted in burglary – equipment worth thousands stolen

A high school in Toekomsrus has been the target of a burglary.

Randfontein Secondary School in Toekomsrus has been the target of a burglary with many of its electronic and teaching equipment worth thousands of rands stolen reported stolen.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks confirmed the burglary at the school which occurred on Tuesday night, October 11.

“I can confirm that a case of business burglary has been open in relation to the incident. We noted that three laptops, two microwaves, a projector, printer, money safe, switchboard, television, whiteboard and a smart board were taken at the school.

“A case of business burglary has since been opened and investigations are underway,” said Sergeant Hendricks who urged anyone with any information regarding the incident to come forward and report it to the police.

They can do this by going to the Randfontein Police station or contacting the station on 011 414 4992/ 011 414 4329.

The Herald has approached the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) for comment.
