SA bike festival to start its engine today!

South Africa’s premier motorcycle, music and lifestyle festival to start today.

Three days of fun-fuelled two-wheeled entertainment lies ahead this coming weekend.

From Friday, 26 to Sunday, 28 May, the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit will be host to a massive line-up of activities for bike lovers. Over and above the action-packed day out that the South Africa Bike Festival is set to offer, visitors can also look forward to seeing over 30 of SA’s top superbike riders in action. GAS Sports will also be bringing the 1000cc class for a round of the DEODSuperGP Champions Trophy.

The schedule of events for the weekend will include three 20-minute practice sessions as well as one qualifying session on Friday, 26 May with the main races on Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 May at 2pm. This means an hour a day of scintillating SuperGP high-speed action in-between the highly anticipated Circuit Test Rides and Stunt Shows also taking place on the circuit at South Africa Bike Festival.

Nicole Muller, South Africa Bike Festival’s Event Director said, “It is a great honour to play host to a round of the DEOD SuperGP Champions Trophy 1000cc class, which is highly regarded in racing circles and will offer SA Bike Festival patrons some magnificent racing action and even more bang for their buck.”

Over the past three years, the SuperGP Champions Trophy has become firmly established as the premier national motorcycle racing series on the South African calendar, with many of its stars going on to showcase their talents on the international stage.Current runner-up in the 2016 SuperGP Champions Trophy, Michael ‘Magic Mike’ White, will be one of the riders competing. He will be joined by local talents, multiple National Superbike Champion, Greg Gildenhuys, and four time SuperGP Champion, Clinton Seller.

A full list of standings, teams and riders will be available throughout the year on the SuperGP.co.za website. Visitors to SA Bike Festival can bring their families along to get autographs and photo opportunities with all the contenders in the Sky Lounge and on the main stage on all three days of the festival.
