What not to miss in sport this first September weekend!
The Herald has compiled a list of some must-see sporting action to be broadcast on television on Saturday, 1 September and Sunday, 2 September.
SATURDAY, 1 SEPTEMBER:
• Rugby:
Even though the Rugby Championship is taking a break this weekend, there is still a lot of not to miss rugby action on. This includes the Mitre 10 Cup (New Zealand’s domestic rugby competition) starting from 9.30am between North Harbour and Tasman; Currie Cup action from 1.55pm between the Cheetahs and Sharks as well as the Blue Bulls and Golden Lions at 4pm. Then tune in at 1.40pm for some Top 14 action in France between Pau and Toulon at 2.40pm; Guinness Premiership action between Exeter Chiefs and Leicester at 5.25pm, as well as the start of the PRO14 between Munster and the Cheetahs at 6.05pm.
• Football:
Two SA sides to go head-to-head in the second leg of the MTN8 Cup are Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United at 8.10pm. Also tune in at 1.20pm for some Round 4 action in the 2018/ 19 English Premier League, where Leicester City and Liverpool collide followed by Burnley and Manchester United at 3.50pm.

• Day 5 of the US Open (tennis) from 1am
• Day 3 of the 4th test between England and India (cricket) from 11.55am
• Qualifying in the Formula One Italian Grand Prix (motorsport) also from 2.55pm
• Drone Champions League (drone sport) from 8pm
• SA and ABU cruiserweight champion Thabiso The Rock Mchunu against Thomas Tommy Gun Oosthuizen at Emperors Palace (boxing) from 7.30pm

SUNDAY, 2 SEPTEMBER:
• Football:
An SA football clash not to miss is Sundowns vs Cape Town City in the MTN8 semi-final second leg at 2.55pm
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, try the following …
• Day 6 of the US Open (tennis) from 1am
• Italian GP Main Race (motorsport) from 3pm
• Stage 1 of the Tour of Britain (cycling) from 2.15pm
• Day 4 of the 4th test between England and India (cricket) from 11.55am
• The Internationales Stadionfest (ISTAF) World Challenge in Berlin (athletics) from 4pm
• Varsity netball action between Maties and Tuks at 6.55pm
