Two men were caught with unlicensed firearms and ammunition in their possession in Atteridgeville West on Monday.
Spokesperson Thomas Mufamadi said on Tuesday members of the community policing forum (CPF) came across the two men, aged 18 and 22, while patrolling the area around 13:05.
“The two men were caught in Brazzaville, Atteridgeville in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The CPF alerted the police and the two were arrested.”
Mufamadi said the two men would appear before the Atteridgeville’s Magistrate’s Court soon.
“We would like the thank the CPF members for doing a good job. They didn’t take the law into their own hands and beat up the suspects, but did the sensible thing of catching them and taking them to the police station,” he said.
“We like to urge the community to comply with us and not take the law into their own hands.”
