Trio in court over tracking device
Three men held after being caught with a cellphone-tracking device in their possession.

Three men appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after being found in possession of a cellphone-tracking device worth R25 million.
Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the device could intercept highly confidential national security information with the ability to bug over 10 000 lines.
All three men were granted bail. One of them would be back in court on 17 August. A court date for the other two would be set pending the outcome of further investigations, said Mulaudzi.
He said the three were captured during a sting operation. They were lured to Irene Village Mall in Centurion under the impression that a buyer for the “grabber” device was waiting there.
The men wanted to sell the Israeli-manufactured machine.
Two of the men were arrested inside a bank in the mall where the transaction was meant to be completed. The third one was caught outside.
The trio apparently used the device to influence and blackmail people involved in tender processes.
