Man arrested for illegal possession of ammunition in Mooiplaas

Erasmia police arrested a man after he was found with ammunition in his house.

A 32-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of ammunition in Mooiplaas, Erasmia on Monday, police said.

Spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the man was arrested about 11:00 in his shack at Mooiplaas informal settlement.

Police members received a tip-off from the community and traced down the suspect. Upon arrival at his shack, they found him alone inside,” he said.

The police began searching his shack before they recovered and seized two live rounds, 15 cartridges, 12 shotgun rounds and a smoke grenade,” said Moloto.

“A case of possession of ammunition was opened at Erasmia police station for further investigation.”

Moloto said the man was expected to appear at the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court soon.
