Owner denied her keys
The keys that were found on a man while being searched have been claimed by its owner.
A robbery victim still cannot get her set of keys recovered “until the investigation” is complete.
Nayoung Sceo was robbed while walking at Fort Klapperkop; her bag was taken and with it, a set of keys.
On Sunday, police arrested the alleged robber and recovered the set of keys but Sceo cannot take possession of it because it is evidence.
“I went to the police station to collect the keys and I was told to make an affidavit [declaring the keys were mine] yet I still could not get them back,”” she said, adding nobody could tell her when she would be able to get it back.
But Sunnyside police spokesperson Sergeant Asnath Malatsi confirmed Sceo would only receive her keys after the investigation is completed.
“For now all the items found on the man are evidence and will be handed to owners as soon as the investigation is complete,” she said.
The man has already appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
