Rhythm City actress out of hospital, shares photos of injuries
Rhythm City actress Lele Ledwaba was allegedly assaulted by a metro police officer on Monday evening.
Rhythm City actress Lele Ledwaba has been discharged from hospital.
Ledwaba suffered injuries to her wrist and shoulder when she was assaulted, allegedly by a metro police officer on Monday evening.
On Tuesday, Ledwaba shared photos showing her injuries on her social network page.
Her manager, Wesley Mark Gainer said Ledwaba was on her way home when she was stopped by a female Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officer after she failed to stop at a stop-sign.
“From what I understand, [she] was asked to get out of her car, and when she requested the officer’s name and identification, she [the officer] allegedly became aggressive and manhandled her,” Gainer wrote on Ledwaba’s webpage.
He said Ledwaba fractured her wrist, broke her thumb and suffered bruising to her shoulder. She has opened a case of assault against the officer.
JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane said the department had yet to receive an official complaint from Ledwaba.
“We have requested her to file a complaint internally [with the JMPD],” she said, adding the JMPD could not use the criminal case in its disciplinary process.
