Tiny dogs chase thief away
Would-be thief flees from barking Jack Russell and Pug.
A hilarious video has gone viral of a would-be thief in Elarduspark running for his life from two tiny dogs.
Johny Prinsloo, the owner of the home, said the attempted robbery by the nervous crook happened in the early hours of Monday morning.
“At 04:00 this morning, we heard a noise outside in my garden. I looked out of window and saw this man skulking around. I immediately phoned Bull Security, who responded within three minutes,” said Prinsloo.
Before Bull Security arrived, Prinsloo’s two dogs, Rasta and Toffee, a Jack Russell and a Pug, decided to make short work of the thief.
As he was crawling through the garden, the two cheeky little dogs stormed out of their kennel and charged at the thief. Apparently getting the fright of his life, he jumped up and ran away with the two barking dogs in hot pursuit.
When Bull Security arrived on scene, the man had already gone.
Bull Security officer Roan Adlem said attempts to corner the fugitive continued for about an hour.
“We chased him through several yards before he finally evaded us.”
Adlem said the man was wanted for several robberies, including the theft of a laptop from a home in Elarduspark.
“What this incident shows is that although security cameras and sensors are very good warning systems, small dogs are equally effective. When inside a house, they will often bark when they hear a commotion outside the house.”
He advised people to keep their dogs safe.
“We recently responded to yet another dog poisoning in the area. Though criminals are scared of dogs, they will poison them beforehand to gain access to a home.”
He urged anyone with information on the thief to contact Bull Security on 012-997-0799 or the Lyttelton police 012-644-8600.
