Cellphones worth R220 000 stolen
Police launch a manhunt for three alleged robbers.
Cellphones to the value of about R220 000 were stolen from Vodacom store at Forest Hill mall in Centurion, police said.
A manhunt for three men who are believed to have robbed the store on Thursday afternoon was launched.
Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the men posed as customers. One man was armed.
“He pointed his firearm at the employees and other customers and ordered them to the storeroom,” he said.
“The men took only cellphones and fled the scene.”
Moloto said no shooting was reported and nobody was injured.
“At the moment we will be monitoring CCTV footage and investigations continue.”
A case of business robbery was opened at the Olievenhoutbosch police station.
Public is urged to come forward with any information they might have.
Mall marketing manager Deshen Naidu confirmed the robbery.
“The Vodacom in the shopping centre was robbed earlier this afternoon. The police are on the scene and are investigating.”
