The Pretoria central police made 23 arrests in a visibility campaign at the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the arrests were made between last Friday and Tuesday, 11 August.
Among those arrested was a woman who went to a Sportscene store with a fraudulent debit card to purchase clothing.
Sportscene management noticed something was amiss and alerted the police. After forensics verified the fraudulent card, the woman was arrested and was set to appear in court on Wednesday.
In another crime, two men attempted to rob a bystander at a bus stop. Selepe said the two men pulled a knife, demanding his wallet and that was when Tshwane metro officers pounced and arrested the two.culprits.
Various arrests were recorded as most arrests were made on charges of drunk driving, malicious damage to property and shoplifting.
Drugs were found among six individuals at Shepard Street and Nelson Mandela Drive during a random stop-and-search operation by central police.
Cases of motor vehicle theft had been reported during this period and members of the public were advised when locking their cars to check more than twice if their car windows and doors were closed and locked properly.
