Three men have been caught in The Reeds after a burglary in Jacqueline Street, police said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the Wierdabrug sector police, together with Monitor Net security, arrested the men on Tuesday. They were all 21 years old.
“The perpetrators damaged a locked gate to gain entry into a house in The Reeds. A 35-year-old woman was called by the security company after an alarm went off at her house,” said Moloto.
“A police patrol vehicle, followed by the security company, swiftly responded to the call. Upon arrival, three suspects were caught red-handed on the scene and were found in possession of a microwave and jewellery taken from the house.”
Moloto said the three were using a red Hyundai i10 vehicle with a false registration number to load the stolen items. Police established that the vehicle was hijacked at Bramley in July 2015.
“A case of house breaking and theft and possession of a hijacked vehicle was opened at Wierdabrug police station for further police investigation. The suspects will appear at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.”
