A 3D winter wonderland at Brooklyn
Spectacular 3D artworks on display at Brooklyn Mall.
Spectacular 3D festive artwork is now on display for all to marvel at at the Brooklyn mall.
The artwork, inspired by the classic tale The Nutcracker, was created by Tony Cuboliquido and Peter Westerink, artists from Italy and The Netherlands respectively, known the world over for their immersive art.
“For Cuboliquido and I to be travelling to Africa to share our art is a dream come true. We cannot wait to share these glorious images that have taken both of us back to our childhood and have helped to get our festive cheer going early,” said Westerink of Planet streetpainting.
The three incredible work of art, called ‘The Land of Snow’, ‘Clara’s Land of Toys’ and ‘The Land of Sweets’ will be on display at the mall.
The true magic of the anamorphic effect is based on the angle the art on the mat is painted at.
From most angles the painting may seems a stretched-out mess, but when you stand on the exact right spot, the artwork unfurls its secrets, pulling you into the beautiful festive scene, like the magic usually reserved for fairy tales.
At the launch event, ballet dancers pirouetted and twirled on the magic artwork, their graceful moves further brought the breathtaking scenes to life.
Cuboliquido started his work on 3D street art, called anamorphic art, in 2010. Since then he has created beautiful 3D art for corporate clients like Apple and Disney as well as art festivals, including the Malta Street Art Festival earlier in 2015.
“One of Brooklyn mall’s overall objectives is to align with the visual and performing artists and provide a platform for them to the shoppers of the mall,” said Nicola van Kan, marketing manager of Brooklyn mall.
“Brooklyn mall wanted to showcase The Nutcracker this festive season, by working with AfroAsia events to showcase three magical worlds of illusion taken from the story – Land of Sweets, Land of Snow and Clara’s Land of Toys, through the use of Cubliquido and Peter Westerink’s amazing 3D interactive pavement art.”
The beautiful art will be on display for the rest of the festive season. Be sure not to miss it.
