Generous donations to assist in fight for wildlife conservation

SANParks recently received two very generous donations to help them pave the way towards wildlife conservation.

Wildlife officials at SANParks were beyond themselves, when the organisation received two extremely generous donations to assist in the fight against rhino poaching.

On Monday 23 November, SANParks received a generous cheque of R359 100 from the Gallet Group, an investment services and employee benefits company.

“What Gallet aims to do at the end of the day, is invest in our country by protecting one of our most precious assets, our animals. The conservation of our wildlife is key to creating a sustainable future for our children, we want to teach people to look after what they have,” says Steve Beck, head of the company.

SANPark’s objective is to create awareness around the “Know your national parks” theme to cultivate a sense of pride in South Africa’s natural, cultural and historical heritage, protected by the park system. The goal is to take impoverished children and elderly citizens to parks like the Kruger National Park.

Inspiring rural children to appreciate the environment is imperative to creating a relationship between nature and humans, teaching them to preserve and appreciate it.

Vuswa Fleet services donated a 60-seater bus valued at R2.5 million.

“We need as many allies as possible to fight the war against poaching. The donations will definitely be put to good use, by ensuring that park employees arrive at work safely and go home safely after a long day’s work protecting our animals,” says Rajesh Mahabeer, chief financial officer of SANParks.

“We will not allow this tremendous act of kindness to be neglected, we want to make ADDO National Park and other wildlife parks available to all and solve problems facing conservation in these parks,” he concluded.
