Motorists advised to be cautious on the road with schools open
With schools open and the traffic congestion on the roads motorists are urged to be cautious to avoid accidents.

Since the opening of schools on Wednesday, a couple of accidents involving school children have taken place in the west of Pretoria.
And motorists are urged to be more cautious when transporting children and driving in community roads.
Best Care Ambulance spokesperson, Xander Loubser said on Wednesday afternoon, they attended to three accidents in the west.
“One accident took place on the Mabopane freeway. A wheel on a minibus taxi transporting school children came off and the taxi hit the barriers. Three children sustained minor injuries and transported to a nearby hospital,” he said.
In another accident in Ernest Street in Pretoria Gardens, a mother and her daughter were transported to Bougainville hospital after they also sustained minor in an accident.
“The mother was on her way home with her daughter when they were involved in an accident. The driver of the other vehicle apparently skipped a stop street and bumped into them,” explained Loubser.
Another accident was in Mayville and a patient was transported to hospital.
Loubser said now that children were back at school, the roads were busier, and motorists should always think about their safety, passengers and pedestrians.
He provided a few tips for safety:
– No mobile phone while driving
– Buckle up driver and passengers, toddlers and children
– Keep your distance from vehicles ahead
– Slow down at schools where pedestrians are more likely to be hit by a car
– Pedestrians should always be on the lookout for motorists when crossing the road
– Make sure your vehicle is roadworthy
