Three house robbers were arrested following a high-speed car chase in the east of Pretoria on Wednesday afternoon.
Garsfontein police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones said two armed men overpowered a domestic worker at a house in Moreleta Park.
“The suspects gained entry by breaking the gate motor before entering the house through the sliding door. The suspects forced the domestic worker into the main bedroom where they locked her in,” she said.
Jones said a third suspect was waiting outside in a getaway car.

“During the robbery, TV sets, laptops and other electronic items and liquor were stolen. “
Bull Security officers responded to a panic alarm call from a neighbour who heard the domestic worker screaming, she said.
“The domestic was freed and gave the officers a description of the suspects’ vehicle.
“The getaway vehicle was picked up by another reaction vehicle of Bull Security minutes later and a chase ensured,” Jones said.
During the chase, several drivers had to swerve out of the way to prevent accidents.

Jones said one of the suspects jumped out of the moving vehicle during the chase.
“Shortly before the Rigel off-ramp, one of the passengers jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled on foot towards the N1 south but was quickly apprehended by the officers,” she said.
“Shortly after, the vehicle was pulled over and two suspects were arrested.
“Stolen goods were recovered. The owner of the house was very thankful for the quick reaction by Bull Security officers.”
Jones said case of house robbery was opened at the Garsfontein police station.
“The possibilities of the suspects being linked to more crimes cannot be ruled out.”
