Klofies social media accounts under cyber attack

All efforts are being made by the school to stop the constant stream of obscene Instagram posts.

Hoërskool Waterkloof was busy with crisis management after their social media platforms were seemingly hacked on Wednesday.

Marike Scherman, who is responsible for communication at the school, confirmed that their Facebook and Instagram accounts were temporarily taken over by someone who posted obscene images and wording, mostly of an explicit sexual nature but also attacking anything from the Christian religion and parents to teachers.

While the school managed to remove the Facebook posts by midday, Scherman said they were still struggling to regain control of the Instagram account.

Meanwhile, the school sent out a communique via D6 School communicator to alert parents of the issue and requested them to not comment on the posts.

Scherman said all efforts were being made to stop the constant stream of Instagram posts.
