Attempt to recover stolen TV leads to drug bust in Eersterust
“The trio, aged 21, 20 and 18, were arrested for being in the possession of stolen goods as well as being in the possession of drugs”
Three people were busted for drugs, after police followed up on a complaint by a man about a “friend” who stole his television set.
The arrests were made around 20:30 in Eersterust on Thursday, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo.
“Police received a complaint of theft at Bronwyn Crescent, whereby a 35-year-old man accused his friend of stealing his television and his cellphone,” Shibambo said.
“His friend admitted to the theft and he led the police to the house where he sold it.”
Shibambo said the man took the police to a house in Langeberg Street where the television was allegedly sold.
“Upon arrival, he took the police officers to a back room with three more men inside,” he said.

“Inside the room, the police also found packets of drugs on the floor and money scattered all over.”
He said the suspect identified the television, which was on the bed, as the one he sold to the suspects.
“The trio, aged 21, 20 and 18, were arrested for being in the possession of stolen goods as well as being in the possession of drugs,” he said.
The suspects were detained at the Eersterust police station and they will appear in the Hatfield court soon.
