Miss teen finalist motivates homeless children

The visit by Miss Teenager South Africa finalist will uplift everyone's spirit at the home just because she is also from Nellmapius.

Nellmapius beauty celebrated Youth Day this week by bringing warmth and motivation to a local shelter for the homeless.

The children at the Give Them Hope Foundation Home in Nellmapius Extension 2 were treated to delicious soup and bread. Sanitary pads and face cloths were also provided.

The generous donations were made by Miss Teenager South Africa 2020 finalist, Naledi Selaloke (15) from Nellmapius Willow Manor extension 10, who braved the cold front to help the needy.

Naledi said Youth Day was a special day and made her want to give back to the community.

The Hoërskool Staatspresident CR Swart learner, who believes in change, said spending time at the centre was part of her social responsibility programmes.

Naledi, who is among the top five finalists for Miss Teenager South Africa, said her passion for beauty pageants started when she won her first pageant as Miss ST Peter Claver church in 2018.

She said she grew up loving to help those in need and wanted to help at all times.

Naledi said after the visit to Nellmapius home she realised there was a lot that needed to be done and the community had to appreciate the little things in life.

Matshidiso Mothiba, founder of the Give Them Hope Foundation Home, said the generous donation came at the right time when it was mostly needed.

The visit by Miss Teenager South Africa finalist will uplift everyone’s spirit at the home just because she is also from Nellmapius, Mothiba said.

She further said the children were now motivated as she gave them hope not to give up in life and inspired them to look forward to reaching their dreams.

The community of Nellmapius needs to learn to give and see the difference they can make in these children’s lives.

Mothiba said the children don’t need much, all they want is to be loved.
