Man arrested for allegedly chopping up his stepfather

A police dog led the team to the shallow grave at the back of the house where the remains were discovered.

A man allegedly chopped his stepfather into pieces and buried his remains in the backyard on Monday evening.

The 27-year-old Atteridgeville man was arrested and is facing a murder charge for allegedly killing his stepfather.

“Police officers from Tshwane K9 unit and Crime Prevention unit, received information about an individual who killed his stepfather and buried him at the back of his house,” said police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela.

“The suspect was arrested in Attteridgeville on Tuesday, October 19, following an intelligence-driven operation.”

He said during the operation a police dog led the team to the shallow grave where the remains were found.

“Forensic experts were called to exhume the body,” Makhubela said.

“Police are investigating the circumstance of the incident as the motive of the killing is unknown at the moment.”

The man is expected to appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Thursday, October 21.
