Police flying squad recover three vehicles in Mabopane and Soshanguve

Vehicles being targeted by criminals include Toyota Hilux, Fortuner, Ford Ranger, BMW, NP200, VW Polo, 4×4 vehicles, and 4×2 bakkie/vans according to the police.

Tshwane flying squad members have recovered three previously stolen or hijacked vehicles worth R430 899.

The vehicles were recovered in Mabopane and Soshanguve last week and at the beginning of this week.

On Saturday, December 10, the flying squad recovered a white Kia K2700 previously hijacked in Winterveldt according to flying squad spokesperson Sergeant Alfred Legodi.

“We recovered the vehicle behind Mabopane cemetery, and a Ga-Rankuwa Saps crime scene laboratories criminal record (LCRC) member attended the scene and the motor vehicle was taken to Pretoria west vehicle crime investigation units (VCIU),” he said.

Legodi said the vehicle’s estimated value is R78 900.

Nissan NP200s are in demand according to police reports.

They say it continues to be the target for car hijackers out there and owners of such vehicles are advised to keep their eyes open and be very careful.

Recently they recovered a white Nissan NP200 reported stolen in Akasia.

“The car was recovered abandoned in block P next to house no. 343 Soshanguve, LCRC attended the scene and the car was taken to Pretoria West. The vehicle’s estimated value is R66 000,” he said.

Legodi said they also recovered a white Isuzu Dmax valued at R285 999 and reported hijacked in Hebron.

“It recovered abandoned in phase 06 Itsoseng Mabopane, LCRC of Ga-Rankuwa attended the scene and motor vehicle was taken to Pretoria West VCIU,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.
