Metro opens new Pretoria West licensing centre

The mayor states that the new licensing centre is entirely owned by the metro and no rent payments will be made on it.

The Tshwane metro opened its new licensing centre recently in Pretoria West and expects the facility to service 350 customers a day.

The C de Wet licensing centre, on 175 Es’kia Mphahlele Drive, was officially launched on December 11 during a unveiling ceremony attended by MMC for roads and transport Cllr Dikeledi Selowa and mayor Randall Williams.

“The opening of this facility ushers in many benefits for clients in that it is strategically located and thus ensures easy access to public transport, and will cater to bulk motor vehicle registration clientele from the automotive sector, banks and insurance companies,” said Williams.

According to the metro, R12-million per annum was being paid to lease the building and “it presented numerous challenges which affected the quality of service delivery”.

“In line with our stringent financial management measures to put every cent to good use, we took an economically sound approach to give up the lease and move to a City-owned facility to efficiently render licensing services,” Williams continued.

He stated that the new centre is entirely owned by the metro and no rent payments will be made on it.

He said that the centre boasted various new features designed to offer motorists a more customer-friendly experience including a refurbished waiting area, safe parking bays as well as a reception and client counters.

“The City of Tshwane multi-party coalition government has yet again delivered on its core service delivery commitments. I want to thank MMC Dikeledi Selowa and her team for the good work. The centre is already operational with friendly staff that are ready to assist all clients,” Williams concluded.
