Police recover stolen vehicles and illegal ammunition

Flying squad members recover various vehicles this July.

Tshwane police flying squad members recently recovered a stolen bakkie and live ammunition rounds in Centurion and Pretoria North respectively.

The bakkie in question, a black Izuzu KB250 valued at R40 000 was reported stolen at Sunnyside police station.

“Members recovered the vehicle on the R55 next to the Elegant garage with no suspects in its proximity. Our fingerprint expert was dispatched to the scene and the vehicle was recovered with the help of Tracker SA. After processing, the vehicle was taken to the Pretoria West pound for further processing,” said squad spokesperson, Sgt Legodi.

The Tshwane flying squad also recovered live ammunition in Pretoria North on Rachel de Beer Street next to the open field.

Two 5.56 live rounds, two 7.62 live rounds and four shotgun SSG live rounds were found abandoned and later booked. The value of the ammunition is reported to be R650.

These follow recent recoveries made earlier this month that included a white BigBoy motorcycle valued at R15 000.

The bike was reported stolen in Wierdabrug and recovered at Mooiplaas informal settlement in Erasmia.

The bike was tracked with the assistance of Rentrak and taken to the Pretoria West pound.

Tshwane flying squad members also recovered a stolen white Toyota Fortuner fitted with false

registration plates. The car was stolen in Centurion, Wierdabrug and recovered abandoned at the Lebone Tarven in Temba. The estimated value of the vehicle is R689 000/

A silver grey Toyota Hilux 3.0 stolen in Rooihuiskraal Centurion was also recovered abandoned on the R80 north under Beemer bridge. The estimated value of the vehicle is R489 000.

Another Toyota Hilux Legend 50 stolen in Brooklyn was recovered abandoned on Snake Valley Road in Thaba Tshwane. The estimated value of the vehicle is R689 000.

Each of the vehicles was processed and taken to the Pretoria West pound. Residents with information relating to these cases are urged to contact their local police.
