Light sport aircraft crashes near N4

A light sport aircraft crashed near the m17 - N4 on Monday morning. Here is the latest information from the scene.

 

A pilot and passenger miraculously escaped unharmed after a light sport aircraft crashed near the M17 –N4 on Monday morning.

According to South African pilot-instructor Sean Cronin, the pilot and his passenger escaped unharmed.

“It is believed that the pilot experienced engine failure on his final approach. He did a great job of landing the aircraft.”

The sport light aircraft is a Bat Hawk, a conventional 3-axis light sport aircraft LSA.

He said the pilot only sustained a small cut on the head while the passenger was shaken.

The emergency services were quick to respond and provided immediate medical attention to both the pilot and the passenger on the scene.

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is on its way to the scene.

Meanwhile, in other news, the Tshwane Ya Tima campaign hit Laudium in Centurion in a bid to recover the R125-million locals owe the city for electricity.

The campaign led by MMC of Finance Jacqui Uys hit various spots in search of debtors and illegal connections on July 11.
