Planned three-day outage in parts of Centurion this week
The power supply will be interrupted for about eight hours each day.
Residents receiving power supply from the Kentron Substation are informed of a three-day long power supply interruption that will take place due to maintenance work.
This was according to Tshwane spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo, who said some areas would be interrupted in intervals between August 19–21.
“The metro’s Energy and Electricity Business Unit will carry out a three-day maintenance work on the Kentron Substation in Centurion,” he said.
He said this will result in power supply interruption in the areas that are supplied by the substation.
Areas that will be affected include Highveld, Irene and the Telkom Head Office.

Mashigo said the maintenance will last for at least eight hours each day.
“This essential work will start tomorrow, Tuesday and will last until Thursday from 08:00 until 16:00 each day,” he said.
He said parts of the substation will be switched off to allow technicians to transfer power load from the substation’s old 11KV board to the newly constructed 11KV board.
The following areas will be switched off periodically on different days:
Tuesday (August 19): Highveld
Wednesday (August 20): Highveld, Irene
Thursday (August 21): Telkom Head Office Highveld
“The metro apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may be caused as a result of the mentioned work,” said Mashigo.
He further advised customers to treat all electricity supply points as live at all times.
