The police physical trainers invited the public to join a free aerobics class to promote healthier lifestyle changes during the annual 16 days of activism.

They also distributed pamphlets highlighting the harmful effects of GBV.

Every year, from November 25 to December 10, awareness around violence against women and children takes centre stage. The police believe that engagements such as these are essential in tackling the social scourge.

“We’d like to thank the SAPS physical instructors for hosting the aerobics session for the community as well as the community members that participated. It’s important to use innovative and fun ways to connect with our community on issues around GBV and crime prevention,” said West SAPS communications officer, Constable Sibongile Vuma.

Residents are reminded to never be afraid to reach out to authorities if they or someone they know of, has fallen victim to GBV.

The Pretoria West SAPS aim to make community engagements a more regular occurrence in 2023 as they believe it’s a strong tool in addressing deep-seated social issues.

An imbizo was held at a nearby church in Danville recently where residents confronted the local authorities on numerous issues affecting the area.

Residents who wish to report matters to the West police are urged to call 012 327 4907 or 08600 10111.
