TMPD operation nabs two for drug possession

The two men were arrested with 305 packets of heroin with an estimated value of R14 000.

The Tshwane metro police (TMPD) drug unit and Akasia police have arrested two men for dealing in and possession of drugs.

TMPD spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the suspects had drugs worth R14 000 in their possession.

Mahamba said the two aged between 35 and 40 were found with 305 packets of heroin.

“The vehicle they used was also seized.”

He said the duo is expected to appear in court soon.

Mahamba said TMPD continues to yield great successes.

He said the arrest followed a successful by-law joint operation in Bronkhorstspruit on Monday November 27 in which businesses were inspected for compliance.

Mahamba said more than 10 tuck shops were closed down and fined.

“A follow-up operation was conducted on Tuesday, November 28, only to find that nine had reopened and without following proper procedure.”

Mahamba said they were shut down again, and their stock confiscated.

He extended his gratitude to all police members who took part in the operations.

“Well done to the team involved, we will continue to intensify these operations so that we have a safer festive season.”
