Workshops on accessing and leasing city-owned properties

The city-wide programme will be rolled out across all seven regions and will provide step-by-step guidance and resources.

The Tshwane metro recently announced that it will begin hosting workshops at the start of September on guiding those interested in buying land owned by the city.

The effort is meant to combat the increasing number of buildings and properties being hijacked, with the first workshop taking place in Region 3 at Tshwane House on September 4, from 10:00 to 14:00.

The ‘Know Your Way In’ workshops will be a city-wide programme that will be rolled out across all seven regions in the weeks that follow.

The MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Kholofelo Morodi, said residents will be guided step-by-step on how to apply for leases on city-owned properties.

The workshops will also provide clarity on legal and compliance requirements, while offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with officials from the key departments responsible for all aspects of city-owned properties.

Dedicated help desks will be available on-site for individual queries, and participants will receive printed guides and resources to assist them beyond the workshops.

“Too often, our residents and organisations are unsure how to navigate the lease application process. With ‘Know Your Way In’, we are opening the doors of access, promoting transparency, and giving every resident a fair opportunity to use city property to uplift their communities,” said Morodi.

Morodi called on residents, NGOs, faith-based organisations, youth groups, entrepreneurs, and businesses to attend the Region 3 workshop and take advantage of this opportunity.

Dates and venues for the remaining six regions will be announced in due course.
