Dangerous court skipper wanted in Pretoria North murder case

Nelson Matemang is linked with a house robbery and murder that took place in Florauna, Pretoria North, in June 2016. He is considered to be dangerous and should not be approached.

Pretoria North police have launched a manhunt for a 36-year-old murder suspect who failed to appear in court earlier this month, prompting the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

According to the Pretoria North SAPS, Nelson Matemang is wanted in connection with a house robbery and murder that took place in Florauna, Pretoria North, in June 2016.

Police confirmed that the case was initially reported in 2016, but Matemang was only arrested in August 2023.

He was subsequently released on bail and attended several court appearances.

However, his last appearance was in October 2025, and he failed to present himself for his scheduled court date this month.

“He was last seen in the Mamelodi East area. We are appealing to members of the community and the public at large to assist police in tracking and tracing the suspect,” said Pretoria North SAPS spokesperson Tumisang Moloto.

Moloto emphasised that the suspect has been declared dangerous and warned the public not to attempt to apprehend him.

“We urge the public not to approach the suspect under any circumstances, as he is considered dangerous.

“Anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to immediately contact Pretoria North SAPS or the investigating officer,” said Moloto.

Community members who may have information that could assist police investigations are encouraged to contact Pretoria North SAPS on 071 675 6319, the investigating officer on 072 332 0303, or call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111.

Moloto urged residents to remain vigilant and report any sightings that may assist in bringing the suspect back before the court to face the charges against him.
