Downs to release a number of players
One top player who confirmed his departure is Zimbabwean international Cuthberth Malajila.
Defending Absa premiership title Mamelodi Sundowns are set to release some players before the start of the new season.
Coach Pitso Mosimane earlier said he would love to beef up his squad ahead of the 2019/20 season where CAF Champions League remains his main priority.
Although Downs won the league, the club has been less convincing in the domestic cups which include MTN 8, Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup.
The club has yet to reveal which players would be offloaded come end of June, but reports suggested that at least 10 players could be released.

Players such as Lucky Mohomi, Aubrey Ngoma, Reyaad Pieterse, Mogakolodi Ngele, Soumahoro Bangaly and Jose Ali Meza have seen little game time last season and could avail themselves to offers from other clubs.
One top players who confirmed his departure was Zimbabwean international Cuthberth Malajila.
The 33-year-old striker has won four league titles with Sundowns and has a CAF Champions League winner’s medal to his name. Malajila featured a handful of games in the past two seasons due to the emergence of Gaston Sirino and Lebohang Maboe.
Another Downs player set to leave the club is George Lebese. Although Lebese is currently on loan with Supersport United, he’s contracted with Downs.
Another player that could be on his way out is Jeremy Brockie.
The New Zealand international has seen little game time ever since he jumped the ship from Supersport United. Reports suggested that Kaizer Chiefs might be interested in the man who was known as a ‘sniper’ during his United days.

Downs are interested in bringing a few players to the club and one of them is none other than Supersport’s Aubrey Modiba.
The young winger has had a brilliant season last year with Matsatsantsa.
SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews confirmed to Sowetan that Sundowns were interested in Modiba.
“Look, we are aware that there is some interest in Aubrey from Sundowns and other clubs for that matter and that does not surprise us because he is very talented,” he said.
“He is one of the young guys in the team whom we believe have a very bright future and are good enough to go overseas. For us to lose him to a local club would be a big loss, but we would let him go for the right reasons.”
