SPORT: Maluks United still positive after losing match

Maluks missed two penalties, which opened the door for Stars to romp home.

Future Stars claimed a win over Maluks United in a knockout tournament game at block XX sports ground in Soshanguve on Sunday.

Stars won 5-3 on penalties after the game ended 1-all.

Maluks coach Josiah Khoza said he still had confidence in his team and he was pleased with the way the match went.

“We played eight games this season, lost one and we drew three.”

Stars started their comeback when Tshepo Gafane (15) scored the equaliser that took the match to penalties.

“I have been playing soccer for more than a year. I enjoy playing for this team. Not that we play under pressure but because we put more efforts on our practices and if it was not for the team it would not have been a goal,” said Gafane.

Stars coach Thabang Mogale said he enjoyed being with the boys and he was glad they now knew how to play to their positions.

“I am always happy with the boys because whatever we do during our practice sessions, they are able to apply.

“After all, what matters is progress, most of these players were unaware of their positions when I started coaching them about two months back and today I am pleased to see them playing and applying their skills according to their positions,” said Mogale.

“Well, soccer is a part of life. You lose today and win tomorrow so we need to accept it. Losing does not start with us, teams like Kaizer Chiefs lost games in their final,” said Khoza.

“We have seen our mistake and now we are going back to the drawing board to start afresh.”
