An unbeaten half century from all-rounder Farhaan Behardien secured a 26-run victory for the Unlimited Titans over the Cape Cobras on Sunday afternoon, at SuperSport Park stadium, Centurion.
The Titans are now in second place behind the unbeaten Dolphins in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge.
The home side were sent to bat first after Titans’ captain Albie Morkel lost the toss.
The Titans’ innings started slowly with Henry Davids and Grant Mokoena getting out cheaply.
Proteas’ opener and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock and Graeme van Buuren stabilised the innings somewhat with the latter falling for 27 with the score on 73.
De Kock only lasted three balls longer before he was stumped by Andrew Puttick off the bowling of Justin Ontong.
In came Behardien, who combined well with the dangerous Qaasim Adams to put on a partnership of 52 with Adams hitting two sixes in the process.
The Titans finished their innings on 173/5 after 20 overs with Behardien unbeaten on 61 from 31 balls.
The Cobras began their run chase with Richard Levi hitting a four and a six in the first over, his run was short lived however as he attempted to hit Chris Morris’ slow ball out of the park only managing to send it straight to Ruben Claasen to complete a catch.
The tidy Titans bowling suffocated the Cape side resulting in their run-rate dropping. Then Morkel got the important wicket of Justin Onton in the 9th over.
Sybrand Engelbrecht and Omphile Ramela put on a 50 partnership to give the chasing side hope but as soon as Ramela was out, the comeback looked unlikely.
The energetic and disciplined Titans fielders hardly put a foot wrong as they restricted the away side to just 147/6 in 20 overs to give the Titans another win.
The Titans’ next game, their fourth, will be on Friday, against the VKB Knights at Chevrolet Park, Bloemfontein.
The Titans will play the Warriors at home again on Sunday.
