SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane 2019 officially open for entries

Entries are now officially open for the 2019 Tshwane Leg of the SPAR Women’s Challenge, the biggest and most popular race in the SPAR Women’s Challenge Grand Prix series.

Boasting a new look and a new name, the 2019 SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane was officially launched last week in Pretoria and entries are now open.

Key partners, sponsors, celebrities, top runners and the media all joined the race organising team at the Sun Arena, Time Square for the official launch event.

“We are so excited to be opening entries to the 25 000 ladies from across the region who join us to take part in the race every year – and to be unveiling the big changes that the race has undergone,” said SPAR North Rand Marketing Executive, Charleen Goschen.

The new title of the race will be ‘SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane’ replacing the previous ‘SPAR Women’s Challenge Pretoria’.

“This new title better reflects the ladies who come from across the region to take part and reflects how the race ‘territory’ has grown over the years,” explained Goschen.

The race also has a whole new look. The new red colour is, according to SPAR, bold, strong and confident but also humble, kind and grateful.

This year’s official race theme was announced at the launch event. The 2019 theme is “Yes I Am…”  The theme asks the women of Tshwane to take a closer look at how they define themselves. As a mother, a sister, a friend – or all of these…

“Are you strong, kind, bold, humble – or just yourself? The theme is about embracing everything that you are and walking proudly side by side with 25 000 women from your Tshwane community on race day. #YesIAm challenges you to look at how you define yourself, fairly and without judgment. It’s about being yourself on your own terms,” Goschen enthused.

The race takes place at 14:00 on Saturday, 3 August 2019 at SuperSport Park in Centurion. As always, the race will offer 25 000 women from all walks of life, and all levels of fitness the opportunity to take part in a 5km or a 10km race.

Entry costs R120 per person, for all licensed 10km entrants, R160 for all non-licensed 10km entrants and R120 for the 5km fun run/walk entrants.

There are two easy ways to enter the race.

Firstly, you can enter at participating SPAR and sports stores. Entry forms are available to fill in and you can then immediately pay for your entry. You will be able to instantly walk out of the store with your race pack containing your race number, one-size-fits-all t-shirt, foam peak, and a copy of My Race magazine.

A list of participating stores is available on www.sparladiestshwane.co.za. This website can also be visited for the second way to enter the race online.

Entrants can follow the easy online entry steps (admin fee applies) and then they can collect their race pack at SuperSport Park Stadium in Centurion from 29 July 2019 – 2 August 2019 between 10:00 and 18:00. Regrettably, collection is not available in-store for online entries.

In-store pre-entries will close on 21 July 2019 at 20:00 but pre-entries will still be available at SuperSport Park from 29 July 2019 – 2 August 2019 between 10:00 and 18:00, if entries have not sold out.

Entries will be limited to 25 000 so enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
