Fast, flat route unveiled for first ever Boxer Super Run Tshwane

Boxer and Stillwater Sports have come up with a new concept to make road races more exciting for everyone and the Boxer Super Run Tshwane will soon take place at the Tuks Sports Campus.

Following an exhilarating race in Durban last month, event organisers are thrilled to reveal yet another fast, flat course for the next Boxer Super Run.

This time it is the highly anticipated debut of the Boxer Super Run at the Uitspan recreational facility at the TuksSport campus in Hatfield  on Sunday 10 November.

The Boxer Super Run is a world class 5km road run. With 5km being the most popular distance globally, the event attracts a diverse range of participants, from seasoned athletes seeking to challenge their limits to newcomers venturing into the world of road running.

“The Boxer Super Run route in Pretoria was carefully crafted to deliver both fast times and thrilling competition,” said Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, who is also the organizer of the event.

While predominantly flat and built for speed, the Tshwane route includes a few strategic twists and turns to keep runners on their toes. Participants will also have the unique experience of passing the iconic Olympic-size swimming pool where Olympic Gold and Silver medallist Tatjana Smith (née Schoenmaker) trained for the recent Paris Olympics.

However, he stressed that it is not only elite athletes who deserve the spotlight.

“We are also rooting for the ‘Open Wave’ runners to smash their personal bests. And for those in the ‘Super Social Wave,’ we challenge them to ‘bring the Gees’. Dress up, have fun, and enjoy South Africa’s most social 5km run,” he said.

Lee-Ann Pillay, Head of Marketing at Boxer Superstores also believes this race has the potential to become a huge favourite among athletes of all levels.

“Starting and finishing at the Uitspan recreational facility next to the dam on the TuksSport Campus, the Boxer Super Run Tshwane’s flat, fast route is perfect for participants aged 9 and up. As runners and walkers make their way through the iconic Sports Campus, they will pass key landmarks and getting a unique look at one of South Africa’s most prestigious sports facilities,” Pillay commented.

The Boxer Super Run Tshwane event will start at 07:00 on Sunday 10 November with the Open Wave group (anyone and everyone, club runners, serious runners, schools, runners who prefer an early start with the masses). Between 08:00 – 09:30 the Super Social Wave will start. (Dress up, groups, company groups, charities, runners who prefer a slightly later start).

Thereafter follows the Elite Women (09:45), Elite Men (10:10) and a 1km race for the Young Stars (10:30).
